H1B Atlas

Methodology

H1B Atlas turns public filing datasets into browsable employer, role, city, state, comparison, and ranking pages. The site keeps raw source types separate so users can see what each metric can and cannot support.

Dataset Windows

H-1B LCA filings
FY2024-FY2026. Used for employer, role, city, and salary filing profiles.
PERM filings
FY2024-FY2025. Used for employer PERM activity and PERM occupation signals.
USCIS I-129 history
USCIS Employer Data Hub 2023. Used only as a historical petition outcome signal when employer matching is available.
BLS wage baseline
BLS OEWS May 2023. Used as an occupation-level macro wage comparison, not as employer-specific salary evidence.

What The Metrics Mean

LCA filings are Labor Condition Application records. They are not the same as visa approvals, job openings, employee counts, or final hires.

Filed salary bands generally represent base wage information in the public filing. They do not include equity, signing bonus, annual bonus, benefits, or later compensation changes.

PERM Activity Ratio compares PERM filing volume with H-1B LCA filing volume in the available datasets. It is not an individual green-card conversion rate or success probability.

USCIS I-129 history is shown with its own 2023 source-year label because it is a different dataset and window from FY2024-FY2026 LCA records.

Normalization Caveats

Employer names are normalized so related legal names can be browsed consistently. Some large employers still appear through multiple legal entities, and some similar names can remain separate when public filings do not provide enough evidence to merge them safely.

Location and role pages are built from submitted worksite and job-title fields. Public filings can contain spelling differences, missing values, amendments, and employer-entered variations.

Public filing data is normalized for browsing. LCA filings are not visa approvals or job openings, PERM filings are not individual green-card success rates, and salary figures generally exclude equity, bonus, and benefits.
